Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel and the other named angels and opponents of the Bible, the Apocrypha and 1 Enoch: a roster of 42 names, each checked against its verse.

How many archangels are there? It depends on the text. 1 Enoch 20 names seven. 1 Enoch 40 names four. The King James Bible gives the title by name to only two, Michael and Uriel. This guide sets out every answer with its verse, and follows the names from Daniel and Luke to Tobit, 2 Esdras, 1 Enoch, Jubilees and the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs.

It also explains where Satan, Belial, Mastema and Metatron come from, and why Lucifer is not on the list. The roster at the back was built by script: a name is included only where the cited passage both names the figure and describes it.

Includes: 56-page PDF · eight chapters · a roster of 42 named figures · 95 checked quotations · a table of every answer to "how many?" · a plate of the seven holy angels of 1 Enoch 20

The King James Bible uses one word, hell, for four different words in Hebrew and Greek. This guide separates Sheol, Hades, Gehenna and Tartarus, verse by verse.

Sheol, Hades, Gehenna and Tartarus do not mean the same thing, yet an English reader of the King James Bible sees the same word for all of them. This guide gives each word its own chapter, then turns to the underworld of 1 Enoch and to the Abyss and the lake of fire in Revelation.

The verses were found by script, from a King James text tagged with Strong's numbers, and checked against the Hebrew and the Greek. The concordance at the back lists every one, with the original word and the English the translators chose.

Includes: 51-page PDF · eight chapters · a concordance of 97 verses · 73 checked quotations · a plate of the places of the dead · a key to every "hell" in the King James Bible

Genesis 6:1-4 and the ancient texts that tried to explain it, from 1 Enoch and Jubilees to Josephus and Augustine, quoted and laid side by side.

Genesis gives four verses to the sons of God, the daughters of men and the Nephilim, and then moves on. Later writers did not. This guide follows what they made of those verses in 1 Enoch, Jubilees, the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, Josephus, the New Testament and the Church Fathers.

It ends with the two readings that divided interpreters, that the sons of God were angels or that they were the descendants of Seth, and it shows the evidence for each without choosing for you.

Includes: 56-page PDF · ten chapters · 64 checked quotations · side-by-side tables of how each text answers Genesis 6 · a plate of what the Watchers taught · glossary and bibliography

All five books of 1 Enoch, read in order. The text is quoted from R. H. Charles's 1917 translation and checked word for word, with interpretation clearly marked.

The Letter of Jude quotes Enoch by name (Jude 14-15). This guide reads the book Jude was quoting, one section at a time: the Book of the Watchers, the Parables, the Book of the Heavenly Luminaries, the Dream-Visions and the Concluding Section, and then what the New Testament does with it.

Every quotation comes from R. H. Charles's translation of 1917 and was checked by script against that text before the file was made. Plain paragraphs report what 1 Enoch says. Paragraphs headed Reading are interpretation, so you can always tell the two apart.

Includes: 78-page PDF · eight chapters · 112 checked quotations · three plates, including the leaders of the Watchers · endnotes and a bibliography
